Mynydd Moel from Minffordd – Cadair Idris Minffordd Path

If you’re looking for the shortest and safest route to the summit of Cadair Idris, the Minffordd Path is where you should be heading… but only if you’re ok with a lot of steps.

At around 10km, top-to-bottom, this route will have you on your feet for around four to five hours and offers some of the most stunning views of Snowdonia, and surrounding coastline. Starting just beyond the wonderful Ty Te Cadair Tea Rooms and Visitors Centre in Minddordd, follow the path into the steeply wooded gorge.

The steps may be challenging for less experienced walkers, but they will ease up as you continue to go uphill. You’ll eventually reach the path’s renowned viewpoint, Cwm Cau, offering some of the most beautiful views in the entire region, including Llyn Cae, the mountain’s famous glacial lake.

Carry on across the ridge to the top of Craig Cwm Amarch, before your final pull to the summit, Pen y Gadair. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the “Chair of Idris” before you make your descent, and a stop at the Ty Te Cadair Tea Rooms.
